This summer we saw @populus_denver under construct

This summer we saw @populus_denver under construction and were intrigued. When we went to the Nutcracker over Thanksgiving Cedar was saying we haven’t explored Denver enough, so for his Christmas present we’re spending a night. We’ve packed a lot in: @denverartmuseum is always free for kids so the boys went there while Alex and I went to the @denverlibrary , then we went to the Blossoms of Light display at @denverbotanic , then watched our first drone show from @peakslounge , then dinner at @mintindianrestaurant , then the boys and I visited the Mile High Tree and finished off the evening with dessert and cards at @stellarjay_denver . Throughout our travels tonight we were amused by the wild outfits worn by folks attending Decadence, which seems to be a two-day rave at the convention center.

Miramar Beach, FL day 6. Owen and I went to Blackwater River State Park to look for red-cockaded woodpeckers. We met up with a teen birder from New Mexico named Will who was a friend of a friend of Owen’s who figured out the boys would both be in the same part of Florida at the same time and should meet. I forgot to get a photo of them together. We all had good looks at the woodpeckers. We also found some nest trees, which are marked with a white band of paint to protect them and for research purposes. Red-cockaded woodpeckers are listed as Threatened under the Endangered Species Act. Lots of robins were feeding on these red berries that I didn’t recognize - iNaturalist identified them as Yaupon holly, native to the region.
